General Conference Convention

More Info

A Personal Invitation

Registration is now open for the 2017 General Conference Convention! Help us spread the word that this is going to be a fantastic convention, and you don’t want to miss it. We are excited!

Join us July 3-8 in Springfield, Illinois, at the Crowne Plaza Springfield as we fellowship, catch up with old friends, make new ones, receive inspiration from dynamic worship services, and conduct the business of the Church.

“Worthy is the Lamb” is our theme. Imagine a convention of believers giving glory, honor, and praise to Jesus in all we do — whether in business sessions, worship gatherings, interaction with local businesses, or visiting and fellowship. Please start praying now that Jesus will shine in our lives and that we will return home energized to be about our Father’s business.

Convention 2017 offers a unique opportunity within our church history to catch the Vision of a Vibrant 21st Century Church and to examine ways to make that vision a reality in our General Conference, our local churches, and our individual lives. We will also revise the General Conference bylaws to create the infrastructure to support that vibrant church. Don’t miss this opportunity to be challenged and involved!

On this site you will find lots of good information to help you plan for our time in Springfield, the capital of Illinois and home of President Abraham Lincoln.

  • Begin exploring this website by reviewing the information in the "Overview" section.
  • Register for Convention 2017 by following the instructions in the "Register" section.
  • All the information you need to register at the convention hotel is described in the "Lodging" section. The Crowne Plaza has created a special convention link and phone number for registering, so be sure to read those instructions carefully.

Please be aware that by staying at the convention hotel, you are helping to defray the costs of meeting rooms needed for our activities. Those costs are based on our reserved rooms and a food and beverage contract.

Remember, by registering early, you assist the committee in preparing convention activities, and you receive a discounted rate. We look forward to seeing you in Springfield!

In the meantime, your prayers for a successful convention and for convention staff would be greatly appreciated.

Worthy is the Lamb!

Facility Fee
(for those staying at area hotels or RV's)

Negotiations with hotels for our national conventions require that we contract for a given number of rooms each night. Fulfilling that contract significantly reduces the rental fees for meeting rooms in the hotel. By staying at the convention hotel, attendees help reduce the overall cost of convention.

The facility fee allows those not staying at the convention hotel to pay their share of the hotel rental fee.

  • Adults $25
  • Youth $15
  • Children $10

There is no registration fee for children 3 and under. The online registration system will be available up to and throughout the convention, and personnel will be available at the registration desk during the convention to assist with changes or new registrations. Early registration discount ends on April 30, 2017.

It is important that you read the GC Convention Refund Policy before registering.

Program Overview / special programs for specific groups

Special Programs Overview

Special programs are being planned for kids, youth, young adults, women, and seniors. You'll see them on the daily schedule, but here's a little about each one.

Joseph’s Journey From Prison to Palace

Children ages 4-12 will step back in time to ancient Egypt, exploring the life of Joseph. Kids will participate in a Bible-times marketplace/craft area, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building Egyptian games, and dig into Egyptian food.  We will visit Joseph in prison and then in his palace home as we learn how God is present in his life and in our lives today.  Our goal to contrast Egyptian culture with God's call to follow Him, the One True God.  Along the way, children will collect Bible Memory Makers to remind them of God’s Word. Plus, everyone learns to look for evidence of God all around them through something called God Sightings.

Due to the format of convention this year, we will be in need of willing volunteers who can help as we transform convention into an Egyptian adventure!  If you are interested in helping, please contact Amanda Brown at egyptVBS2017@hotmail.com.

Nursery

Childcare will be provided for ages 0–3 during the business sessions. Volunteers are needed! If you plan to take advantage of this service, please be willing to volunteer in this area at least one morning or afternoon.

Calling All Youth!

So you heard your family is going to Springfield, Illinois, for convention this summer . . .and you're wondering if there will be anything for you to do there.

The answer is YES! Together will explore the city, have themed nights, dig deeper into knowing just how much Jesus is worthy of.

During our time together, we’ll discover God’s truth through small groups, build each other up through some crazy large group games, and sing with one voice. You’ll get to reconnect with old friends, meet new ones, and be reminded that God is calling you to join Him on His mission.

Convention week is a time to laugh, relax, and let your guard down. It’s a time to experience belonging to a church family and reconnect with the God who made you and makes time for you. There’s so much competing for your attention . . . let’s spend a week this summer focused on the only One who is worthy of our devotion and worship: Jesus.

Summer 2017. It’ll be here before you know it, and we can’t wait to meet you!

The target age group for the youth program is middle school and high school students. There will be morning and afternoon sessions, outings, and late night options.

If you are a Church of God 7 Day Young Adult (Ages 18–35), we have an awesome line-up of workshops, worship, (a fancy) Gala dinner, Worship Run-A-Thon, meet-up groups, community service projects and TONS more for you. Single? married? parent? single parent? college student? divorced? SWORD wants to connect with you in Milwaukee.

Childcare will be provided during most events. Subscribe for the latest updates for #SwordGC15 on our website sword.cog7.org!

If you are interested in leading/volunteering for Young Adult events in Milwaukee, e-mail sword@cog7.org today.

NAWM is holding its traditional luncheon and bazaar along with new and exciting features. This year’s luncheon theme is W.O.W. ("Women of Worship"). The planned program will focus on WORSHIP—Worship from the voice and heart of women.

We cordially invite you to join our luncheon and to visit our bazaar during convention week. And if you have a hobby or craft that you enjoy sharing? Please consider donating some of your handmade items to the NAWM fundraising effort.

Activities are planned to provide senior adults the opportunity to fellowship, renew old friendships, and make new ones.
