Dream in Progress (paperback)

One of my primary responsibilities as President of the General Conference is casting vision for the future of the organization: “Where there is no vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 20:18). For a number of years, I have done so under the general heading of The Big Picture Vision, or more specifically as The Vision of a Vibrant 21st Century Church of God (Seventh Day). It has received widespread acceptance throughout the church, and has been incorporated into the end goals section of the Board of Directors’ policy manual. The purpose of this small volume is to capture, in the most succinct way possible, the ten major components of that vision. By putting them in one place, and in short written format, it is hoped that many throughout the church will find it convenient to refer to them, and will do so often, as we strive to realize the dream.

Description

Challenged by probing questions, such as these…

  • What might our church look like under the most ideal circumstances?
  • Who are we and what is our role within the greater Body of Christ?
  • What are the gifts and callings that have been unique to our movement over nearly a century and a half?
  • How have they prepared us for ministry in the present?
  • What will it take for our church to move in that direction?

…newly appointed president of the General Conference, Whaid Rose, began crafting the concepts captured in this book when he took office in 1997. Fast-forward to 2011 and we have Dream in Progress, which serves as the compilation of Pastor Rose’s vision for the church that he loves and leads.
